My Background
Personal Profile
I’m Alex “Griff” Griffin—an illustrator, tattoo artist, and designer based in Cheltenham. Art has been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember, and over the years that passion has grown into a career that spans tattooing, illustration, and creating unique products for my shop.
I began my journey as an illustrator, building a style that blends clean lines, bold shapes, and expressive character work. What started as sketchbooks and digital drawings eventually evolved into Griff Draws and my Etsy shop GriffinIllustrations, where I released prints, cards, and stickers inspired by films, games, and the odd bit of humour.
My transition into tattooing felt natural—another way to bring ideas to life, but on a canvas that moves, breathes, and tells its own story. I now work as an illustrative tattoo artist at Enigma Studios, specialising in detailed linework, dotwork, whimsical characters, animals, and surreal twists that make each piece feel truly personal. My focus is on creating tattoos that feel collaborative, comfortable, and crafted with intention.
Across everything I do—tattoos, art commissions, shop products—I aim to blend creativity with storytelling. Whether I’m designing a custom tattoo, sketching new flash, or packing orders for my shop, the goal is always the same: to make work that feels meaningful, expressive, and unmistakably mine.

Education
2013-2016
University of Gloucestershire — BA (Hons) Illustration, 2:1
During my Illustration degree I developed strong skills in creative problem-solving, visual storytelling, and working to professional briefs. My studies covered a wide range of disciplines including editorial illustration, character design, graphic design, printmaking, and digital media. I became confident using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and learned how to take projects from initial concept through to polished final artwork—skills I now apply daily across both my tattooing and illustration work.
